Meet the Street behind Streetwood

Barry Street has 2 passions in life.  First is his passion to be an ambassador of the Lord who transformed his life as a young man and gave him a vision to “work as unto the Lord” focusing on excellence and integrity in every facet of his life.  His second passion is creating designs in wood, the mechanical and visual aptitudes passed down from his maternal grandfather.

With strengths in analytics, he continued his education enrolling in the school of architectural engineering.  There he discovered his thirst for designing the unique and contemporary, learning about proportion and balance of design.  He later changed his career focus and moved his studies to a local university where he obtained his degree in mathematics with a minor in education.

Over a 40 year career Barry has been an educator, education administrator, sales agent, sales manager, VP, and sole proprietor.  In every capacity his foremost commitment has been his focus on excellence, his investment in people and his passion to elevate those around him by sharing the love and grace of God.

Barry blends his desire to be a witness for His Lord through excellence in his performance as well as his business interactions.

Creation itself exemplifies the care, balance and excellence of the Master Creator and Barry tries to bring a sense of that balance and perfection into every work of his hands.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN INDUSTRY

Barry began his journey in woodworking in high school where learning trade skills was an essential part of his school district’s curriculum.  He was exposed to both metal and wood working, laying the foundation for a passion that would be developed through his life.

During his senior year in college, Barry was working to expand his bachelor’s degree in mathematics by obtaining his certification as an educator.  During his student teaching internship he befriended the Industrial Arts teacher, where he again whet his appetite in woodworking, completing projects during his non-classroom time.  His passion for designs in wood was reignited.

Post college, Barry and family purchased their first family home, an entry-level “fixer-upper” Cape Cod home in PA.  Over the next 12 years he was reintroduced to working in wood and cabinet fabrication, designing and building the basement game room, tiered deck and completing a  total remodel of the home.

Years later a career opportunity resulted in relocation to South Florida.  This new home wIth a sizable garage, provided the space to ‘set up a permanent shop where honing expanded woodworking skills became reality.  Over the next 20 years Barry’s career path would weave with his increasing passion to work in wood and evolved into his own business in woodworking and home repair.

And now, after 40 years of cultivating the art of designs in wood he unveils this website to showcase many of his designs.

Personalized Approach

Most of the giftware, toys and writing utensils are custom designs reflecting the form, style and balance of the crafter.  For commissioned pieces, wood and hardware are selected to compliment the design as well as the taste of the commissioner.  Abundant time is devoted to selecting complementary woods, developing dimensioned illustrations and making adjustments to insure customer satisfaction.

Barry creates every piece as if he were retaining it as his own.  The perfection passed down by his maternal grandfather is evident in his insistence that every piece is not just “good enough” but “excellent” before he applies the Streetwood emblem.  Barry’s commitment is complete customer satisfaction because each item represents a slice of himself and his integrity.
